(Institute of Physical Education,Taiwan Sport University,Taiwan 333301,China) Abstract: The research applied the theory of cultural imperialism to analyze the communication and globalization of modern sport, and put forward the following opinions: the process of communication of modern sport can be divided into two stages, namely, the colonial period and after World War II, Britain and America become the core countries of communication successively; the process of communication of modern sport embodies capitalism centered western countries’ continuous domination over the peripheral countries in 3 aspects: colonial powers utilize sport to carry out social control, western powers dominate the sports industry of the third world countries, the peripheral countries are in a subordinate status in terms of sports culture; the 3 aspects are not existing alone but closely related; when observing sports communication, we cannot choose such a naïve perspective as “de-history” or “de-politics”.
