(E-Institute of Ethics in PE,Sport and Health,Shanghai University of Sport,Shanghai 200438,China) Abstract: From the perspective of meta-ethics, the authors put forward such a reflection proposition as “How does physical education let moral establishment and student cultivation become possible”, and the theoretical predica-ment that the existing research achievements were unable to respond to this proposition. By referring to related re-search achievements, the authors put forward ontological physical education based on “life, living and survival”, and the proposal to develop student morals and virtues accordingly. The conclusions are as follows: (1) physical education has value self-sufficiency, while physical education’s extrinsic value has commensurability, therefore it is possible for physical education to promote “moral establishment and student cultivation”; (2) under the precondition of ensuring student physical education rights, establish the “existential relationship” between physical education and life, and develop students’ awareness of moral rules accordingly; (3) realization paths: from the extrinsic perspec-tive, we should provide the students with the “existential relationship”: ensure physical education rights, cultivate physical education core attainments, promote physical education routinization, and purify physical education ecol-ogy; from the intrinsic perspective, we should improve the students’ abstract thinking ability, develop the students’ moral judgment, and cultivate the students’ awareness of rules.
