Studying the significance of sports missions and respon-sibilities for the Chinese nation to stand up is not only to trace related events and characters, but also more impor-tantly to establish the system’s historical conceptions and to explore sports value connotations. The authors drew the following conclusions: in order to wipe out national fitness weakness, and to sweep away national spirit debilitation, sports became the new awakening of the Chinese people; sports missions for the Chinese nation to stand up origi-nated from excellent traditional cultural inheritance, the spreading of Marxism, the Chinese Communist Party being the representative of advanced culture, and the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation; sports responsibilities for the Chinese nation to stand up were embodied in the followings: held up the flag of patriotism; forged a mirror of building sports for the masses of workers and peasants, and developing sports by relying on the masses of workers and peasants; sang a song about building a new great wall with our flesh and blood; opened up a way to promote country prosperity, nation rejuvenation and people happiness. Chinese sports missions and responsibilities have witnessed history, and have become a part of history as well.
