The authors drew the following conclusions: such a Taoist health preservation conception as “My life depends on me, not on Heaven” exceeds other religions’ belief, providing a possibility for human physical and mental health; methodologically, Taoist health preservation always bases on mind cultivating and nature conforming as the essence, i.e. advocating such a guiding ideology as “mind cultivating as the first priority, body cultivating as the second priority”, which is essentially different from sports objectives; in Taoist health preservation, the method of “spirit cultivating with tranquility” is not significantly related to sports, daily behaviors in “shape cultivating with movement”, local activities of some body parts, respiration etc., should not be listed into the scope of sports either; in Taoist health preservation, the contents and requirements of “shape cultivating with movement” such as Daoyin technique, Wuqin play, Bagua palm etc., which are most closely related to sports, are the primitive embodiment of ancient Chinese sports.
