(Department of Physical Education,Nanjing University,Nanjing 210023,China) Abstract: From the perspective of event origination and development, the author rethought the culture and features of the swimming event that is based on “man-water” dialectical relationship, examined the swimming course by placing it in the school education domain, and put forward the conception change from skill learning to event educa-tion in swimming course reform. On such a basis, the author put forward the following new ideas for reconstructing swimming course reform that is based on sports event culture: such course conception and objective orientation as facing to survival (survival practical skills), living (fitness lifestyle) and life (life safety education); three-level course system structure from entry to proficient (elementary, improvement and training); diversified teaching modes characterized by mind and body interaction and experience as well as “theory” and “practice” concurrently valued course teaching examination and evaluation.
