(School of Wushu,Shanghai University of Sport,Shanghai 200438,China) Abstract: By applying methods such as field investigation, oral history and logic analysis as well as the deep description theory in interpretative anthropology, and by taking Haiyang Big Yangko as the case, the authors probed into the witchcraft sacrificial ritual and the Wushu and dance fusion therein, and concluded that as a folk activity, Haiyang Big Yangko is the blending of Wushu dance and witchcraft, its essence is Wushu dance with witchcraft sacrificial functions. Analyzed from such two dimensions as the witchcraft sacrificial ritual and the Wushu and dance fusion, the witchcraft sacrificial ritual in Haiyang Big Yangko is composed of ancestor sacrifice and sea sacrifice rituals, while the Wushu and dance fusion includes such two parts as the fusion of military Wushu and folk Wushu. Its witchcraft sacrificial ritual and Wushu and dance fusion symbolize that major national affairs are sacrificial activities and military affairs, i.e. promoting ritual and music to educate the people, promoting folk Wushu performance to protect the territory and secure the people. On the one hand, it originates from the strong implementation of sacrifice and military affairs at the national level; on the other hand, it is the active imi-tation of sacrifice and military affairs by local people. It is a two-way interactive process. This research shows that the Wushu and dance fusion is an important form of Wushu fusing with other cultural forms, such as witchcraft; it is still an important presentation form of Wushu development in modern times; it has certain significance for deepening Wushu cul-ture research and expanding research perspective; it also provides enlightenment and a reference value for Wushu devel-opment in modern times.
