Aiming at the main problems existing in the English translation of Chinese Wushu, such as “several translations for one term, different translations for the same term”, “rigid and mechanical translation”, “far-fetched translation” etc., and the resulting predicament of Wushu culture absence, the authors put forward the strategies for eliminating culture absence in Eng-lish translation, such as carrying out “transliteration”, “literal translation”, “free translation”, “borrowing translation”, “translit-eration + explanation”, “transliteration + free translation” and “cultural transplantation” according to different cultural contexts, and further put forward such strategies as cultivating Wushu translation professionals, establishing a dedicated Wushu transla-tion agency, and strengthening the communication with the English translation of other Chinese cultural affairs.
