(School of Physical Education and Health,East China Normal University,Shanghai 200241,China) Abstract: Most of Chinese mainstream education views and physical education views emphasize school physical educa-tion’s student physical health promoting function, while relatively neglect school physical education’s important function in student moral education and cultivation. The idea of “embodied moral education” provides theoretical support for breaking through such a traditional conception, and for school physical education to better implement the fundamental task of “student moral education and cultivation”. In order to, at the practice level, promote school physical education to exert a greater func-tion in the fundamental task of “student moral education and cultivation”, the authors suggested the followings: 1) strengthen policy guidance; try to include physical education in university entrance examinations; practically raise school physical edu-cation’s status in the education system of comprehensive moral, intellectual, aesthetical and working education; 2) deepen physical education and health curriculum reform; change the course teaching conception based on the “sports technique cen-ter theory”; emphasize the integrity and application of sports skill learning and practicing; 3) expand the scale of the univer-sity physical education teacher team; enhance physical education teachers’ moral education awareness; cultivate physical education teachers’ ability to create diversified and complex moral education scenarios; 4) urge schools to develop miscella-neous campus sports competitions; let more students cultivate a healthy personality in sports competitions.
