(1.School of Physical Education，Jinan University，Guangzhou 510632，China；2.School of Physical Education and Health，East China Normal University，Shanghai 200241，China) Abstract: By using the methods of literature, expert interviews, logical analyses, this article explores the current situation and future trend of the doctoral education reform for physical education discipline in China, in order to provide reference for the decision-making departments and enhance the quality of doctoral cultivation. The study suggests that the doctoral cultivation of physical education discipline in our country provides a guarantee for improving the quality of doctoral cultivation through a series of reform measures such as perfecting the enrollment manner, optimizing the curriculum system, practicing the elimination mechanism, reforming the mentor system and implementing the flexible academic system. On the basis of the experience of doctoral education in developed countries and the reality of our country, this study suggests that the future trend of the education reform for the doctoral students of physical education discipline in China is to strengthen the international feature of doctoral cultivation and the training of doctoral ability to transfer, and to focus on the development of professional doctoral degree.
