(School of Physical Education,South China Normal University,Guangzhou 510006,China) Abstract: The Basic Law of Sports promulgated by Japan in 2011 was a comprehensive revision of the Sports Promotion Law of Japan in 1961. China and Japan have shared great similarities in the process of promulgation and revision of sports law. To examine the content changes of the current Japanese Sports law, and learn from its useful experiences, will provide beneficial reference for the revision of the current Sports Law of the People's Republic of China. This paper reviews the social background and process of the revision of the Japanese Sports law, and it explains the new changes of the Japanese sports law from six aspects, namely preamble, basic philosophy, national responsibility, basic plan of sports, sports industry, sports arbitration and sports administration. This paper deeply analyzes the deficiencies of the revision of the sports law for the People's Republic of China and the beneficial enlightenment of the revision for Japanese sports law from three aspects as follows: Sports laws and regulations have interconnections and continues to improve contents; the revision has been brewed repeatedly and consulted the opinion from a wide cross-section of people; the sports law has been revised in a comprehensive manner with prominent features as a basic law.
