(1.School of Physical Education and Health，Guangxi Normal University，Guilin 541004，China； 2.School of Competitive Sports，Shandong Sport University，Rizhao 276800，China) Abstract: The paper takes the process of localization of Chinese sports for more than 100 years as the research perspective and relevant historical events and ideas as research materials, and aims to explore the historical logic and culture roots of Chinese sports since its inception. The study holds that historical logic of Chinese sports is “the supremacy of the state”. Chinese sports have always been placed within the national system, entailing define national will and historical mission. In other words, the development of Chinese sports are closely related to the national strength, which is the very operating mechanism of Chinese sports localization. The evolution process of Chinese sports equates that of its localization and of the infusion of the East and West, which is what the cultural roots of Chinese sports lies in. During the process, a series of sports ideas derived gradually show the tendency of humanism from conservative to open, and this is exactly the spiritual sublimation of Chinese sports. Although there are twists and turns in the process of Chinese sports localization, remarkable results have been achieved. In order to recognize its historical inevitability and cultural rationality is the logical starting point and background pattern for us to build a theoretical system of sports with Chinese characteristics.
