(Department of Physical Education,Ocean University of China,Qingdao 266100,China) Abstract: In the dual context of policy-driven postgraduate classification development and adding the professional doctoral degree in physical education, this study aims to further clarify the connotation of "professionalism" in professional degrees of physical education and the unique characteristics of "physical education" encompassed within it, and also reexamines the practical dilemmas of professional degree education in physical education and then explores reform paths. The study believes that postgraduate education of professional degrees in physical education is an educational process that is premised on the demands of the sports career development and centered on the cultivation of sports career skills, and its professionalism is primarily displayed through theoretical knowledge and applicable research capability in physical education, and practical ability in various directions of physical education and related professional qualities. The practical dilemmas at present mainly focus on the influx of students from different disciplines, and the dilution of professionalism characteristics in physical education; the lag in theoretical courses and the mediocrity of practical courses; the restrictions on dissertations, and the abnormal development of the blind review system. Given those mentioned above, it is necessary to strengthen the evaluation of professional practical ability in the enrollment and admissions process, to form a positive linkage mechanism between theoretical courses and practical courses, internship education and physical education at university and college in the training process, and to establish an independent professional degree thesis review system and standards, the review expert database and its supervision and management mechanism in physical education.
