Abstract:The authors analyzed the current situation and development of the study of sports aesthetics theories based on the statistics of documentary data of sports aesthetics dated from 1988 to 2003. The difficulty and inadequacy in the study of sports aesthetics in China for the last 16 years are specifically shown in two aspects: On the one hand, metaphysical empty talks occurred since the study couldn’t break away from the influence of the mother subject and was subject to too many restrictions; on the other hand, influenced by the idea to make researches more scientific, the researchers had always been working hard to make their researches experimental and accurate, yet forgetting their initial intention for doing the research and neglecting the essential characteristics of sports: picturesque and vivid, thus it is not surprising that their research progressed much slower than they had expected. Actually, a sports aesthetics theory should highlight the perceptual characteristic of technical training of sports: metaphorical expression of a technical concept. In the mean time, the study in this aspect provides a sparkling idea and clue for exploring deeper connotation of sports aesthetics and the development of sports teaching, training and socialization.
