| (Institute of Physical Education,Shandong Normal University,Jinan 250014,China) Abstract: The development trend of the basketball and characteristics and requirements of its skills and tactics were studied based on literature, observation, investigation and tactics were studied based on literature, observation, investigation and logical analysis. The results indicate that the game of basketball will develop along with “height, robustness, accuracy, skillfulness, changing, and fierceness of attack and defenes” in the new century. The contest will become much intense and the skill of attack and defense much excellent and comprehensive in the future.
