The existing “National Curriculum 2000” is the curriculum standard that was revised and perfected in 1994 and 1999 and issued and implemented in 2000. Major changes were also made to British national physical education curriculum as a part of the National Curriculum. The development process, value orientation as well as curriculum structure and characteristics of British national physical education curriculum impart the follow-ing enlightenment to the reform of Chinese physical education curriculum: physical education curriculum should embody the value orientation of social development; physical education and health are two curriculums with differ-ent characteristics, so a separate health education curriculum should be opened; with regard to the selection of physical education curriculum contents, we should seek for the combination of flexibility and unification; curricu-lum implementation and evaluation should be monitored jointly by the schools, parents, teachers and students.
