(School of Physical Education,Chongqing University,Chongqing 400044,China) Abstract: By comparing and analyzing data acquired in 3 mass sports surveys conducted in China in 1996, 2001 and 2007, the author revealed the following findings: the number of people participating in physical exercising and often participating in physical exercising increased gradually; the number of employed and married people partici-pating in exercising increased, while the number of unemployed and unmarried people participating in exercising decreased; the number of people participating in physical exercising 2-3 times a weak increased gradually; “fitness walking” and “running” were main exercises; the percentage of people who based their primary exercising places on “sports playgrounds in work place or residence community” showed a trend of growing; the percentage of subjec-tive factors which affected residents in China participating in physical exercising decreased, while the percentage of subjective factors showed a trend of increasing.
